Randy Hafer is the founder of High Plains Architects and a pioneering voice in sustainable design across the Mountain West. For more than four decades, Randy has advocated for regenerative, place-based architecture that supports healthy people, strong communities, and a thriving natural world. His leadership has helped shape Billings’ downtown revitalization efforts, transformed rural communities, and demonstrated what is possible when buildings work in harmony with their environment. 

A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and LEED Accredited Professional, Randy has designed some of the region’s most sustainable and visionary projects—including the LEED Platinum and certified Living Building Urban Frontier House and the award-winning Home on the Range for the Northern Plains Resource Council. He continues to mentor emerging architects, teach at regional institutions, and explore creative ways to integrate planning, development, and design in pursuit of a more equitable and resilient world.
