Ed Gulick is the President of High Plains Architects. Since returning to his hometown in 2004, he has guided the firm’s vision with a deep commitment to sustainable design, historic preservation, and community-focused architecture. Ed brings a rare blend of craftsmanship, environmental stewardship, and systems thinking to every project. His work has shaped some of Montana and the Northern Plains’ most significant revitalization efforts, from historic downtown buildings to award-winning, high-performance new construction. 

Throughout his career, Ed has pioneered innovative approaches to historic rehabilitation, leading complex projects like the Milligan and Crowley Blocks for One Health, the Swift Building Lofts, and the Home on the Range renovation. Under his leadership, High Plains Architects has delivered more than a dozen LEED Platinum-certified buildings and historic tax credit projects, reshaping the built environment for long-term resilience. A passionate advocate for walkable communities and sustainable design, Ed strives to create places that people love to inhabit and that stand as a testament to the heritage and landscapes that define the Northern Plains.
